My new radio - still has the protection on the screen!
Performs well on BC receive. Currently using my ham multiband HF antenna - good enough for casual listening.

Nice transceiver. It feels kinda satisfying to peel that thing off.
Hope you’re having great time with the radio.
Thanks. It’s a great addition to my shack.
I have these primarlily for ham radio, but they perform well as a general coverage receivers if I want to listen around the bands.
The reason I went for this one is it also transmits on VHF and UHF (in all modes) at reasonable power. It also receives AM airband. It’s added trick is it does the Yaesu C4FM / Wires-X digital mode, meaning I can get into “chat rooms” all over the world as it piggy backs over the internet via my local repeaters. OK it’s not direct RF comms - more a hybrid, but it’s fun to operate. Press a couple of buttons and I’m talking to people wherever, USA, New Zealand, Japan. Being digital the audio is like they are next door!
Have you ever thought of taking up ham radio? I’d have to warn you it’s as addictive as any other radio hobbies!
Yes - I’ll peel that cover off when I have my screen protector sorted ![]()
Yes, I’ve been thinking about getting a license, but unfortunately I have many other priorities right now.
You’ll have to forgive me! I’m always preaching about ham radio ![]()
Haha I’m also interested in ham radio. I might read the book “Ham Radio for Dummies“ someday.
Also a widely used radio in China ![]()
