Pirate Log - 2 May 2026

The Pirates were busy tonight - conditions were decent with some manageable noise.

most certainly is not that legit program which plays on WRMI each

Fair signal with some noise.

6935 Sternradio, (2 May 2026 0011-0020),

first; getting better later on. Waterfall painting at various times.
0014 Station ID 0014 GWAR - “___ this place”
0018 Castle Rat “Cry For Me”
0019 QSY to 6940kHz; likely due to nearby Pirate on 6925.

Nice logging! I wonder if these pirates ever get caught or fined. The antennas of these stations are probably large. It should be very hard to hide them.

Thanks Donald,

I think it’s a matter of economics. While you can certainly use direction finding techniques to narrow down where a signal is coming from, at some point you’ll need to deploy mobile resources to get to the actual site. If there’s no interference complaints or associated problems the authorities are not likely to spend a lot of time chasing after these folks. There have been some that have been caught in the past however. The antenna setups would look very similar to those used for hams.

Another Pirate transmission received just now at 03:42GMT (03/05/2026) at my QTH @IN50we
Illegal pirate music transmission on the 40 Meters Amateur Radio Band 7.09300Khz LSB
The music seems to be Russian and is playing on a loop…!
