I decided to create this new topic for users to post any strange transmissions they find on the air waves that weren’t supposed to be on that frequency or time…
I just had copied this strange FSK transmission right on the side of the 7.415 (China Radio Int.) on the 41 Meters band…
11 May at 01:21 UTC
Anyone else had ear it…?
Hi,
I haven’t noticed this around that frequency but it’s an FSK mode (frequency shift keyed). Hard to tell the exact mode but the shift may be somewhere around 600 hz or so. I’m thinking the baud rate sound like around 50 but that’s a guess - with the receiver off frequency a bit it will sound different. It could be something like a Russian Navy mode (i.e. CIS-50-50) but may simply be another radio teletype mode with similar characteristics. It’s likely encrypted in any case.
Good catch!
Just copied Radio Vaticana on 25.895Mhz and an apparently Arab station on 25.940Mhz (11Meters) commercial band tonight…
A very odd finding considering that there is no known schedules for those transmissions on any of these frequencies…
Location of the station that, on 12/5/2026 from 19:00 UTC, was transmitting the letter “V” on 5007 kHz, obtained using the TDoA extension of KiwiSDR network receivers…
That appears to be a beacon, although the frequency is not a known one that I can see. It might be worth monitoring and seeing if you can catch some traffic. There have been past reports of a “V” beacon associated with a Russian Naval communication station near Khiva, Uzbekistan (on different but nearby frequencies) - that’s a bit SE of the TDOA suggestion but within a reasonable margin of error.
Of course this could be something completely different.
wowsers that is strange
